Your paper must include the following sections:

Introduction
Tell the reader what norm was violated. Explain why the norm is important.
Relate this work to 1 concept from chapter 12 (Social Behavior) of the course textbook. You could use concepts from the text to help understand why the social norm being violated is (or is not) important to the human experience.
Cite at least 6 peer-reviewed psychological articles to support your work (e.g., to explain concepts, show evidence of what has already been studied, or what others predict will occur…)
3 possible explanations with scientific literature to support those reasons for topic: Why the gender of a distressed (EX: crying in public) person matters in whether people help or not
Give thesis containing argument and 3 supporting key points.

Method
Describe the field experiment methodology. In this section you would describe the norm violation experiment clearly enough so a person not there could envision it themselves. You would include: the norm violated, where and when you did it, if you had a confederate, and any other details important to describing the experiment.

Results
Describe the reactions you observed and/or recorded – give a general impression of what happened.
Calculate basic descriiptive statistics (e.g., totals, minimum, maximum and averages). You can conduct other types of analyses if you know how to do so.
Present data visually in table(s) or chart(s)
Report on any patterns seen (you can refer to your visual representation). Did you see some reactions more than others? Were there interesting patterns related to type of person, place or situation? Were there any unexpected reactions? Could you determine if there was another variable impacting your results?
Discussion
Briefly recap findings – was your hypothesis supported or not?
Write up ways that your experiment was successful
Explain limitations of your experiment
You might even propose ways that the social norm may or may not be helpful to humans and society.
Conclude your paper and take the ‘conversation’ to a higher level (e.g., how the social norm relates to larger societal issues, what research could be done, etc…)

REQUIREMENTS Your paper should:

Clearly describe the social norm that is being violated and the norm violation behavior conducted.
Reference and apply at least 1 separate concept from Chapter 12 of course textbook:
Weiten, W. (2022). Psychology: Themes and variations, eleventh edition. Belmont, CA: Wadsworth CENGAGE Learning. Ensure you are referencing and discussing concepts accurately.
Be 5 -7 pages in length (tables or other graphics are not included in this page length).
Be typed, double-spaced, with margins no wider than 1 inch around.
Be written in the 3rd person voice (not 1st or second person).
Be free of spelling and grammatical errors.
Have a title page (this does not count towards the page length)
Have proper APA citations in the body of the paper
Have a reference page, with proper APA citations, at the end (this does not count towards the page length)
