For this assignment, the change is a proposal to move from working remotely full-time to working in person. This is a fairly new organization that originally began as a remote-work-only company. Part 1 – Organizational Change: Star Model Analysis “Palmer – Chapter 4: What to Change? A Diagnostic Approach” in the Topic 4 textbook readings covered a number of organizational change models. Reference the “Star Model” this chapter covers, and refer to the attached “Benchmark – Organizational Change: Communicating a New Policy” worksheet. Address the following prompts in 500-750 words: Strategy: How will moving to working in person impact the vision and direction of the organization? What competitive advantage can be created by making this change? Structure: How will this in-person structure impact the power and authority of the organization’s leadership? What changes may need to occur related to reporting relationships and organizational roles? What organizational barriers may arise? Processes and Lateral Capacity: What issues and opportunities may arise from this change that will impact both formal and informal systems and processes within the organization? Reward Systems: How might this change affect the organization’s methods of measuring performance and determining compensation? Include intrinsic and extrinsic ideas, such as suggestions to promote work-home-life balance. People Practices: How will the human resource policies and practices of the organization need to adjust, including the impact to staffing and selection, performance feedback, and training and development tasks? Christian Worldview: The Christian faith seeks to exercise compassion, justice, and concern for the common good. How could these principles be effectively utilized to best implement this change? Refer to the Class Resources for additional resources. This part requires references based on research. See “General Requirements” for details. Part 2 – Communicating a New Policy Based on your application of the “Star Model,” in 100-200 words, create a policy announcement regarding this change that will go out to the entire company. Use the “AIM” principles discussed in “Cardon – Chapter 6” to develop a message that considers the audience, shows evidence of information gathering, and illustrates clear, logical message construction. Remember to demonstrate positivity and concern for others in your tone. Part 3 – Reflection In 150-250 words, write a reflection describing the usefulness of the organizational change model applied (i.e., the Star Model) in this assignment compared to one other model covered in your readings. In your opinion, would a different model have had a more effective impact in communicating the new policy? Why or why not? General Requirements For Part 1, in addition to your textbook, include two or three additional scholarly sources from the GCU Library for a minimum of three sources. While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
