Choose one of the following literary mediums listed below and create an original work related to the course. Your original creation must relate to one of the two Revolutions we have discussed this semester. This piece should be tied to the Revolution you choose, how it relates is up to you.
Perhaps you are interested in the use of music to convey the tensions in the Algerian struggle, as depicted by Pontecorvo, and would like to create playlist of contemporary music you think could convey these tensions in a similar manner. Or maybe, you are interested in the racial politics of the Haitian Revolution and would like to create zine, podcast, poem or play that educates others on the intricacies of color in the Haitian revolutionary moment. Perhaps you are interested in the gender politics of either revolution and would like to create a painting or offer photographic series of contemporary women trying to upend gender norms. This painting or photographic series could address the pervasiveness of gender inequality despite the gains women experienced from the revolutionary struggles discussed in class.
Be as creative and as innovative as you like; this project is intended to assess your understanding of the history we have discussed and your creativity with this history.

For this part we are doing a Position Paper on the women of the Algerian Revolution.
This is the thesis/stance for the paper: Despite enduring societal norms and facing significant challenges, the women of the Algerian Revolution played a crucial and multifaceted role in the struggle for independence. Their active participation in combat, intelligence, and support roles not only shaped the narrative of the revolution but also had a lasting impact on post-independence Algeria. This presentation aims to unveil the heroines whose contributions have often been overlooked, shedding light on the challenges they faced and the ongoing quest for recognition in the historical and contemporary context.
Part Two: Create an interpretative guide (2 pages, double spaced)
Provide a guide and/or rationale for your project that addresses the Revolution your project is inspired by.
In this 2-page (double spaced) guide, you are to outline how the reader/reviewer should understand and engage your work. You are to also detail how your creative piece is in conversation with one or more of the concerns and/or ideas animating the Revolution you have chosen to creatively treat.
Things to consider:
Explain why this Revolution inspired the creative approach you have taken—this will entail offering historical context about the Revolution and/or revolutionary events in question. Use at least one primary historical document to substantiate your rationale. TIP: Use this digital archive of primary historical documents to situate your piece as responding to or in conversation with a key concern animating the Revolution in question.
