Case Conceptualization Paper: This semester you will need to choose a family therapy model that needs to be presented in our textbook, Case Conceptualization in Family Therapy. Using the Mosley family as your client, you will need to apply your chosen model to the family
Requirement:
a. You will write up a case conceptualization of a family utilizing one of the theoretical approaches discussed in class. I will provide you with a case. The paper should contain the following items [preferably in this order]:
i. (1) abstract; (2) identifying information; (3) presenting
problem(s)/complaint(s); (4) relevant history; (5) larger systems; (6) your theoretical orientation; (7) how this family’s current problem fits into that theory; (8) techniques you would use with this family [including specific questions or directives]; (9) goal of treatment; (10) specific issues related to diversity for this theory; (11) references.
ii. The treatment plan needs to contain at least 10 references garnered from both books and articles (these will mainly come in sections 6-11—which is what this paper is about). These articles and books should be academic in nature and NOT come from websites. Use peer reviewed journals, appropriate books, and use sources directly from the founder(s) of the approach you are using. It should be approximately ten pages, but will probably be longer. Papers are required to follow the latest APA formatting. This is a treatment plan of what you would do with this family, not what you have done. So, write it in future tense when you get to the technique section.
