As an instructional leader, schoolwide decisions should be based on data, research, and evidence.
In the Module 1 assignment, you used schoolwide data and a survey to determine an area of need to improve your school’s literacy program.
In this assignment, you will conduct research using at least five articles that relate directly to best practices to address your need. You will consider the practical application of the research. Then, you will assemble your evidence-based strategies in a 4- to 5-page research paper to support strategy implementation.
Step 1
Select five research articles published in the last 5 years addressing the area of literacy you identified in the Module 1 assignment.
Include:
at least one article incorporating digital technology/literacy instruction;
at least one article addressing the reading, writing, and speaking connection; and
at least one article to support differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
If you are unable to find a current article that aligns with your chosen need and one of the three required areas, you may select two articles on your chosen need and one on each of the other areas, even if they do not directly align to your chosen need.
Synthesize your research and organize your findings into a table or matrix that shows best strategies/practices to address your identified literacy program need.
Step 2
Compose a 4- to 5-page paper (not including the title page and references) that includes the following information:
Introduction
Compose a summary of the area of need and how the research applies to it. Use data from your Module nment as part of the background/support. Teachers must understand why the strategies must be implemented.
Summary
Write a 1- to 2-paragraph summary of each research article. Include the strategy or strategies suggested in the article and why they are appropriate to address the literacy need at your selected school.
Comparison Table
Create a table or matrix to compare at least five evidence-based literacy/instructional strategies you selected. This should depict how they compare/contrast with one another and with the strategies informing or embedded in the existing literacy program.
Action Plan
Develop an action plan describing how you will apply what you have learned in the research to resolve the literacy need at the selected school.
Step 3
Use the Module 2 assignment rubric to informally assess your work and ensure you have met all requirements.
Then, submit your APA-formatted title page, 4- to 5-page paper, and a reference page.
