Should the government possessed the power to incarcerate citizens based on their

students will receive up to 40 points for answering the journal questions included in the syllabus. Each question is worth 4 points. Students will be evaluated on the following: 1) ability to articulate a clear thesis; 2) textual evidence/discussion of relevant passage (properly cited-including page numbers); and 3) clarity of argument. Each journal question corresponds to the readings of the week. You will be graded on your ability to discuss the relevant assigned readings and answering the question that I asked. While this is an opportunity for students to write without time constraints, journal entries will be evaluated on the basis of their ability to discuss assigned readings from my course. Students who do not discuss the assigned readings will not receive appropriate credit. IF STUDENTS DO NOT ANSWER MY QUESTIONS OR USE THE RELEVANT TEXTS FOR EACH JOURNAL, STUDENTS WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THE JOURNAL ANSWER.
