I teach 8th grade ELA with Some esol students :
LISTENING
Choose 1-2 student and find out their WIDA ACCESS or WIDA Screener proficiency levels for listening. Look for evidence that is indicative of the listening domain for their English proficiency levels. Provide an analysis of their abilities for the listening domain.
List 4 questions that you asked your tutee. What were your tutee’s responses verbatim? Did they understand the questions? Did you have to repeat the question? If they did not understand, how did you adjust your question to help them understand? What language proficiency level did their responses indicate? Provide a rationale for your placement level.
Were the activities used in the classroom aligned with the MLLs’ proficiency levels? How or how not? Explain. What do you think could have been done differently?
Include the WIDA CAN DO domains for your MLLs’ grade level and provide evidence for each descriptor of what you noticed that your MLL can do at that proficiency level.
SPEAKING
