Questions RE the Great Migration (floating post option)
Thanks, @Roneisha Bush, for your post.  I am glad you discussed the movement of African Americans from the rural South to the North.  As a continuation of your insights, it is important to note that African Americans did not only move North — they also moved West as both the textbook and the assigned videos explain.  This is an important part of US history that is frequently not discussed.  Thousands of African Americans fled the South after the Civil War to try to find freedom in the West.
One of the most successful results of this emigration was the town of Nicodemus founded by freed slaves in 1877.  You can read a short summary of its history here: https://coloredconventions.org/southern-conventions/emigration-in-practice/nicodemus-kansas/
This link also contains several important primary source images related to the founding of Nicodemus.  I would be interested in some discussion of what can be learned by looking at these.    What strikes you as you look at the pictures of African Americans building a home and a community for themselves in rural Kansas?  How does this help you better understand what you have learned about the struggle of African Americans both before and after the Civil War?
NOTE: remember to use and cite the course e-textbook in your floating post response.
