Workplace Portfolio Assignment
For the unit 5 project in this course, you will be finding a job posting to which you are qualified
and to which you are (hypothetically) interested in applying. You are not bound by local jobs in
this scenario, so feel encouraged to cast a wide net. After you find a job posting, you will craft a
cover letter and resume specific to that job to submit. Lastly, you will add in a reflection about
the assignment.
Cover letter: The cover letter is a one-page tool to help you demonstrate your excellent writing
abilities to your future employer and provide some in-depth understanding of who you are as a
future employee. The cover letter should include your contact information as well.
Resume: The resume is an overview of your qualifications and should be a page in length. Pay
particular attention to formatting, design, and job objectives (see chapter 5 in the textbook) as
you craft this document.
Reflection: While you would not submit a reflection to an actual job to which you are applying, I
am asking you to craft a short reflection in which you do the following:
1. Share the link to the job posting to which you have applied. If the job application
ends before this assignment is due, then you need to take a screenshot of the job
posting so that you can include it.
2. Share the best thing about your workplace portfolio. What did you do really well?
What are you most proud of in the assignment?
3. Share the element that was the biggest challenge for you. What do you wish you
could spend a bit more time on in the project? What do you feel like you didn’t get
perfect in your portfolio?
4. Share your overall reflections of who you are as a writer at the end of this course.
