This week’s reading is a massive work of Romantic French literature intertwined with French politics. I have posted several sources to offer background on the political situation. In a minimum of 500 words, discuss the ways in which Hugo drew inspiration in his novel from the real 1832 June Revolution. Who were the participants, and how are they depicted in the novel? Why is Hugo including this episode, especially in the climax?
