This week we are going to practice writing brief messages. You can use examples you have written from school, work, or for personal reasons. You must be the author of these examples!
1. Positive Message (5 points). Write an example of a message that if kept too direct it might seem impersonal and not positive at all. For example: Good Deed Friday, where the supervisor sends out an email to all staff giving kudos to staff. If this is too impersonal or direct it can seem annoying and not increase moral as intended.
2. Negative Message (5 points), you can use an example of the direct or indirect approach. Depending on your current employment you can write an example of sending negative organizational news, employment messages, or customer messages (no longer having an item, refusing their business, etc).
3. Persuasive Message (5 points), which are my favorite, you can write an example of a business message that you can use on a social media platform, email, or short advertisement. Make sure you are following ethical, legal, and etiquette standards here.
4. Routine Messages (5 points) You can turn in an example of a request for information or action, asking for recommendations or making claims and requesting adjustments. Or you can turn in an example of a general routine message that is positive and sent out regularly to either a supervisor, employees, or customers.
