This is not a traditional research paper. You will create a 9 month calendar (template provided) of strategically planned events and observations of 20 teachers. It is fictional in nature. It is from a High School Principal’s point of view.
The state requirements are attached (Eval Cycle-Best Practices) and MUST be used to create the staff calendar of events and schedule the teachers evaluations.
There are three parts to this project:
1) A summary of the requirements.
I have attached the CDE document you will use to make the summary of requirements. You may provide a narrative or bullet points to complete this part. Please identify the source of the requirement (state, district, etc.)
2) The calendar-
The plan should also include a schedule of teacher observations, and mid-year and spring year connections (these can be post conferences or casual 15 min meetings with each teacher) with each teacher that will keep you in compliance. You can use P1, P2, etc. for the probationary teachers and NP1, NP2, for the non-probationary teachers or give them fictitious names.
This plan should be for 20 teachers, including 5 probationary (these teachers need to be formally observed twice a semester, 4 times in one school year) and 15 non-probationary teachers (these teachers need to be formally observed once a semester, 2 times in one school year).
I have included a calendar template for the months of August- May. You need to schedule everything (activities and observations) directly on the calendar or create a schedule of activities.
The plan/calendar should include dates for:
Annual Orientation (In the beginning August before 08/15, school begins)
Initial Training for new personnel (August before 08/15th
The beginning of the year connection (with activities)
The fall connection (with activities)
The mid-year connection (with activities)
The spring connection (with activities)
Please include the events above on the calendar. Most will be on the school campus. Two can be off campus lunches, games or activities. They should be planned during school hours 7:30-3;30pm. Holiday events, or end of semester or year events can be planned off campus after school from 4pm-8pm. like for example, “Staff Christmas Party” might be planned at a restaurant off campus.
3) Reflection:
Write a one page reflection to address what you have learned by completing the assignment and how you will use that information to plan as the leader of a new school for meeting the compliance issues and for providing a meaningful experience for the educators you are required to evaluate. This reflection will probably be about 1-2 page double spaced
