The research topic that I will be proposing and researching is the frequency of Physical Exercise, the number of times an individual engages in physical exercise per week, measured through self-reported frequency. Mental Well-being, the overall mental health status of an individual is assessed using standardized psychological well-being scales, encompassing factors such as emotional well-being, life satisfaction, stress levels, and quality of Sleep. The subjective assessment of the quality of sleep is measured through self-reported sleep duration, sleep disturbances, and perceived sleep quality.
The three hypotheses I would like to measure are Hypothesis 1: There will be a positive correlation between the frequency of physical exercise and mental well-being. Hypothesis 2: Higher quality of sleep will be positively correlated with mental well-being. Hypothesis 3: The frequency of physical exercise will be positively correlated with the quality of sleep.
Moreover, the two articles I will be using for my correlation project are related to the topic and support the hypothesis. Smith’s article examines the long-term impact of exercise on mental health, providing insights into the relationship between exercise frequency and mental well-being, supporting Hypothesis 1. Moreover, Smith’s article contributes to the understanding of the long-term effects of exercise on mental health, aligning with the project’s focus on the relationship between exercise frequency and mental well-being. Jones’ article explores the association between sleep quality and mental health, supporting Hypothesis 2 and providing background evidence for the importance of considering sleep quality in mental well-being research. It also, supports the significance of sleep quality in mental health, reinforcing the proposed project’s consideration of the role of sleep in the relationship between physical exercise and mental well-being.
