Using Siedel’s (2017) model, Describe the three pillars from Cargill’s perspective for the decisions leading up to the faulty report. Using Bagley’s (2003) decision tree, map out the decision process. Defend which decision appears to come first, second, and third. Here are a few notes to help begin your journey. One definition of PEC is: ability to identify value conflicts and ethical dimensions act in word and action on judgments based on values having the skills to give voice to those values effectively ethical knowledge, skills, and wisdom The first part of this definition is often called “situational awareness.” In many definitions of PEC, situational awareness (SA) is critical. The classical definition of SA is Endsley’s (1995): “perception of the elements in the environment in a volume of time and space, the comprehension of their meaning and the projection of their status in the near future.” In other words, what is happening, what it means, and what will happen going forward. So, a critical part of being ethically competent is understanding the meaning and implications of what we see happening, including the gaps in our own knowledge and ethical skills and thinking. Recognizing and identifying the situation and, more importantly the gaps in our own training and knowledge is a critical part of professional ethical competency. In other words, do you have the ability of a professional to understand and apply ethical principles and standards in your work? In Project 4, in all the Virtual Co-ops, this will come up.
