Synthesis Paper Assignment: Complete the Annotated Bibliography section for your

Synthesis Paper Assignment: Complete the Annotated Bibliography section for your synthesis paper. READ THE DIRECTIONS BELOW CAREFULLY!! This section of your paper should be placed in the Annotated Bibliography section in your Shell – AFTER THE REFERENCE SECTION. The Annotated Bibliography has two parts to each source listed:
The Reference: in correct APA format (Please use the resources I have shared on how to reference correctly as well as using “hanging” format!)
The Annotation: A summary of what the source is (journal, book, website, etc.) and what the source offers as far as information. The annotation for each source is a minimum of 3 complete sentences and no more than 5. You don’t need to write a book for the annotation – simply tell what the source is and what it shares – make it simple! The annotation is directly below the reference and is indented as a block paragraph .5 inches for the entire paragraph aligned with the indented hanging portion of the reference.
The 6 sources chosen for the Annotated Biblio ARE the sources for your paper. ALL SOURCES YOU CHOOSE THIS WEEK SHOULD BE THE ONES YOU WANT TO USE FOR YOUR PAPER!
If you are having issues with your margins, alignment, formatting, etc. check the below to make sure all the settings are correct. Formatting can be touchy unless the paper is set to the below.
Margins of your paper are 1 inch on all sides (go to Margins under Page Layout and set – be sure there are no tab stops set except for the default tab stop of .5 for the main tab)
No spaces between paragraphs or headings. Go to Paragraph in Word; look under Spacing – the Before and After boxes both should read 0.
Text should align left (also go to Paragraph and look under General.)
To “hang” references: setting should match the above first. Highlight the entire reference/reference list, go to ‘Paragraph’ section in Word, click on the drop down for ‘Specials’ and choose ‘hanging’. (You may need to tab in some lines – the first line in each reference should be flush left; the rest should be .5 inches indented.)
Tips on APA References:
The references should be in a “hanging” paragraph format where the first line is left aligned and the rest are .5 inches indented.
The reference list should be alphabetized by first author noted in the source (do not change the order of the author’s in the source itself); websites and organizations are included in this rule.
Organizations should always be spelled out fully in the reference list and NOT abbreviated.
List should be in Times New Roman, font 12, double spaced, before and after boxes at 0! No extra spaces between sources.
Title of works only capitalizes the first word in each section (for example after a colon the word is capitalized) and proper nouns; all other words are lower case for EVERY title.
Journal names have each main word capitalized and are italicized. Volume #s are italicized. The issue # and page #s are not italicized. The volume #, issue # and page #s are formatted a specific way. Ex. Journal of Education, 12(3), 45-50. NOTICE PUNCTUATION!
Hyperlinks (URLs) should not be blue and underlined. They should be all black regular type.
Punctuation is specific for APA! Be sure it is correct! Every period, every comma has to be correct!
No first names or credentials in references! Only last names and first/middle initials!
The annotation part starts on the following line after the reference – see the example!
Do not trust the formatting of references in the search sites! Follow the APA TIP SHEET and complete yourself!!
