Students will develop an intentional guidance for systems change action plan, based on data from the school needs assessment. This assignment is similar to the previous Action Plan and Rationale assignment yet emphasizes systemic change at the school level. Students will be responsible for identifying a relevant issue from school data, researching the topic, and developing a plan to address the school-wide issue. The action plan should follow the template format on pages 258-261 of the Hatch text. Students should submit a 2-3-page rationale for data analysis, activity(s) implemented, and how effectiveness will be measured. See rubric for scoring.
The rationale paper should include the following sections using APA headings:
School System or Policy Change – Clearly and comprehensively explain the school-wide system or issue that you would like to improve. Who is currently impacted by the issue and why should it be addressed? Explain how things at the school will be more equitable if the system or policy is changed.
Method of Change – How will the system or policy in your school be changed? Explain the steps included on your action plan in greater detail. Why did you choose these steps? Explain specifically the school counselor’s role in the plan. What other stakeholders will be involved in the change? How will you get their buy-in?
Results – What will things look like in your school after you have successfully created change with the issue, system, or procedure?
****include ASCA standards for each step. ****
