Several of the recent developments in communication technology can be classified as “real-world integrations.” With real-world integrations, the digital world becomes integrated with external reality. Developments that represent real-world integrations include the “Internet of Things,” spatial computing, augmented reality, and mixed reality. For further information on these real-world integrations, refer to Chapters 1, 9, 12, 17, and 22 of your course textbook and the article “Location Matters in a Digital World: Is Your Business Ready for Spatial Computing?” (Dahan, 2017).
The introduction of real-world integration has a significant impact on how we use the Internet and communicate with each other, similar to the impact of Internet service providers (ISPs) 20 to 25 years ago. For this assignment, you will compare and contrast the emergence of real-world integration with the ways in which the introduction of ISPs like America Online, CompuServe, and Prodigy between 1986 and 2000 made it easy for the general public to access the Internet.
