Select your own dataset for this project. It may come from any source but may not be any of the datasets we have already utilized. Please use the provided video created by Katherine Howell especially for your use. Otherwise, I suggest Kaggle OR .gov site as potential sources but you may choose a work related one as well. Tableau’s resource site offers many free datasets ( https://www.tableau.com/learn/articles/free-public-data-sets) Some suggestions are: factors affecting crime rates or population growth, quality control related datasets, health related datasets, like obesity rates vs eating habits, etc. There are many datasets available for FREE, so there is no need to purchase anything. Provide a complete story using Tableau, including worksheets (5-7) with at least two dashboards. Use of the story facility in Tableau is optional. As always, your narrative is critical in providing context to your story. If it is available, include the narrative generated by Lexio and compare and contrast what it generates to your narrative. Maps are excellent visuals if your data includes the necessary fields. If not, don’t worry, move on with your story. Do your best to select a dataset that you can use to decide on one of two directions (decisions). The idea is to provide your story in words and visuals. Remember, you are attempting to convince management that your data-driven direction is the best choice. This document may be either a Word or PDF, and should include your narrative, visuals, sources of datasets. Always provide an executive summary at the beginning that states your purpose, provides context to your approach and data sources used, and summaries key points. Submission Expectations: Executive Summary limit to 1 Page or less Overall document length without visuals is typically 3-5 pages, double-spaced, 12-point font, 1″ margins Visuals will vary upon formatting, types and numbers of visuals, etc… but should be included in your submission document. The final report should be posted to the Discussion Board.
