Scenario
Write a 5000-word report consisting of two phases.
During the first phase, you will develop a viable business model for a new venture (or a current venture if you are currently an entrepreneur), based around an idea of your own choosing (3000 words).
The second phase of the report is based around reflective writing. You will reflect on the entrepreneurial skills you have learned and developed throughout the course. You will also reflect upon entrepreneurship as a career option.
During the coursework, you will use the business model canvas tool to develop a viable business venture. You will have to assess the market, validate the problem you have identified while developing the financials, and work out the venture’s route to market.
Task
NOTE: To do the tasks above, you may need to make some assumptions. Please highlight them in your report.
The final report will be split into two parts and submitted within the same document. The first part will consist of the development of a business model for a viable venture (3000 words).
The second part will consist of a reflective report that focuses on the learning, development or progressed skills from the module, and upon entrepreneurship as a career option (2000 words).
Both parts of the report should be submitted in the same document.
For the first part of the individual coursework, you need to complete the business model canvas tool – the value proposition, customer, operations and financials should be completed in detail.
You will form an idea for a venture, which can be related to an interest or current career, and create a viable business model that can be launched. The idea will be tested by market research (primary research is recommended), problem validation and a financial assessment. You will create a report around each section of the business model canvas tool.
Format:
Generate an idea (can be done as pre-work)
Generate a value proposition
Assess key activities, key resources and key partners
Assess relationships, channels and customer segments
Assess cost structure and revenue streams
To complete the second part of the coursework you need to create a reflective report. You should consider your personal progression and relate back to the concepts you learned within the module. By assessing the entrepreneurial skills that you learned, developed or progressed, you should also be able to reflect on entrepreneurship as a career option. Each skill assessed should have its own paragraph and should be in-depth.
The structure of the whole report should start with an introduction to the venture idea, the problem it solves and why the idea was chosen. Then move on to a section with a completed business model canvas.
Each point of the canvas should be expanded upon within the report in the relevant section. For example, if you are expanding on a point within the customer segments, it should relate to the customer side of the business model.
The section should end with a short conclusion about the business model.
The second section should start with an introduction about the entrepreneurial skills used within the module. You should write a paragraph about each skill chosen and relate back to the theory. The conclusion should be based around your view of entrepreneurship as a career
