Review current literature that focuses on increasing awareness and advocacy regarding multicultural competency in clinical mental health. The purpose of this paper is to write up a plan to help advocate for marginalized groups such as prisoners, sexual minorities, and military veterans in having culturally competent counselors when receiving mental health services. This paper should also help increase awareness on the importance of increasing cultural competence among mental health counselors. Paper should include a minimum of five current (published within the last five years) research studies from the field of professional counseling to support the rationale for this plan. The written paper must be well organized, clearly presented, with salient points, and a thoughtful summary of the rationale for this plan to advocate and increase awareness. The 5-page paper (not including the title page or reference page) should be written in APA format with normal margins, 12-point font, and be double-spaced.
