Research Paper: Due November 19th. – At least Two pages – double spaced
As a funeral director and embalmer, America was not prepared once Covid became a pandemic virus. In my opinion, families did not receive the justice of a proper burial/cremation service in several states.
The funeral service industry had to come together in a big way. Many colleagues of mine had to fly across several states to help other funeral professionals, whether it was embalming, working services, removals and so forth.
Due to the CDC guidelines, families could only have 10 people (immediate family) to attend services for their loved ones.
Yes, there were many funeral homes that were lenient to allow extra people to come, but some were strict with those guidelines and ONLY allowed ten people.
In 2023, a lot have come into place now since Covid is under control; however, Covid has set a lot of things back as well.
If YOU could do it over again, how would YOU as a funeral homeowner, have guidelines in place for Covid, for your staff and families.
Things to consider (this does not have to be included – just considerations):
Viewing
The facility (funeral home)
First call with removal team that will pick up the decedent.
Services– Burial, cremation, reception (repast)
Number of people allowed for viewing; for the service; burial, events.
Options you would give to the families.
Please cite your sources, speak to funeral homeowners or any funeral service professional and do research.
Again, this is not a paper to stress about. We have all experienced Covid in some form. Use the knowledge you know, the compassion and professionalism you have for this industry to creatively express in paper format how you would handle Covid in the funeral service industry.
