U.S. AND GLOBAL RESPONSE TO NATURAL DISASTERS AND INFECTIOUS DISEASES
Public Health Response to Natural Disaster Analysis
● Instructions:
o Students will analyze the public health response of the U.S. or a developing country regarding a natural disaster. (My topic is Amazon Wildfire)
 Describes the type of disaster and where/when it occurred.
 Identifies barriers and facilitators affecting the ability of the public health community to respond
effectively
 Evaluate media reports, as well as formal reports from agencies such as the WHO, the CDC, and/or
city/county/state governments, or other websites that discuss the chosen disaster and can provide a glimpse into the public health response to the disaster.
 Consider the effectiveness of the public health response.
 Describe how a different country handled a similar disaster and compare and contrast the disaster responses. Make a statement about how you feel the disaster is related to climate change (provide evidence) and how the community is impacted by the disaster.
