The report must be at least 800 words and submitted as a doc or pdf file. The report should follow the following format:
• Introduction:
o Focused descriiption of the field
o What is main challenge or question in the field?
o What is the significance or relation to previous work in the field? How will it move the field forward?
o Is it conceptually innovative?
o Are novel methods (technical innovation) used to address the main question of the research article?
o It is not necessary to fulfill both innovations to advance the field, but it must meet at least one. Many excellent papers use
existing state-of-the art or established techniques in imaginative ways to address fundamental questions.
• Methods: the experimental approaches used to address (sub)questions in the article.
• Results: the experiments & outcomes that test the main question of the paper.
• Conclusion-Discussion:
o Was the main challenge addressed?
o How has it impacted or advanced the field?
o What important questions remain? Have the findings affected the future direction of the field?
• Reference:
o Make sure you enumerate any references or papers that you cite in the report and include these citations in a separate reference
section.
o You can use Endnote or other reference software programs. Follow the format in the articles provided (i.e. see reference section in
Nature Reviews or research article).
FOLLOW THE EXAT FORMAT BELLOW:
TITLE
This is the specific title of the paper that your report is based on.
ABSTRACT
1. Provide 3-4 sentences with an introduction to the specific topic.
2. This is followed by the question to be addressed, then an overall result sentence or two
3. Finally, provide a summary sentence that highlights the importance of the paper or it’s findings.
INTRODUCTION
Write a brief paragraph that specifically introduces the field, the questions that remain unanswered, how the paper addresses these questions, and finally a general statement of the findings.
APPROACH & RESULTS
1. This section begins with a question or hypothesis. This is followed by the experimental approach or method used to address the question. Finally, the results of the experiment.
2. Other sections includes other experiments to validate or refute the findings in “1.” .
3. Or questions may arise as a consequence of the results I “1.” Again, state the question and the experiments to address or determine the answer.
The various approaches & results within this section should have SUBTITLES.
CONCLUSION & DISCUSSION
This is not a summary of the entire paper. This section is to emphasize the key experimental findings, how it addresses the overall question or hypothesis, how the field is advanced, and future directions, questions that need to be addressed, or how it opens up a new field of research.
REFERENCES
This. section should be in the “Nature” journal format. Make sure that important statements that you refer to in your report are properly acknowledged.
NOTE
1. If figures are to be included in the report, make sure that it is discussed in the paper. Do not paste figures randomly without context.
2. Make sure the various headings & sub-headings are in bold.
3. ake sure to use proper spacing, specifically, start new paragraphs for new topics.
