Persuasive Presentation Information (20%)
You will deliver a persuasive presentation based on the findings and recommendations of your research report. Your presentation will last 8-11 minutes, during which you will introduce your topic, explain why it is important and relevant, outline your key research findings, and present your conclusions and recommendations. Total number of slides between 9-11, not including the title and reference slides.
Imagine you are presenting to the company you wrote the report for. Your focus should be on presenting a presentation that will provide a clear rationale for your recommendations, with a strong persuasive delivery, so that stakeholders on that industry or business sector would be convinced to follow your advice. We are looking for an energetic and interesting presentation that educates the class about an issue, convinces us that the topic is relevant, and presents recommendations with some urgency and energy. Delivery should be dynamic and should demonstrate superior public speaking skills. You will not be reading from a script but should aim for free-flowing delivery, speaking in a natural manner. Due to the virtual nature of this class, you will present with your camera on.
The presentation will include well-designed and harmonious slides that complement the topic and look slick and professional. Include citations and references for any pictures, quotes, or new content that was not in your original report; ensure accurate APA citations are used and a separate “Reference” slide appears at the end of the presentation; include only sources cited in the presentation. Keep writing minimal, and, where possible, allow pictures and icons to tell the story.
As part of your presentation grade, you must complete audience feedback for every presenter on both presentation days. For each presenter you do not provide feedback for, you will lose 1 full mark from your presentation grade. An audience feedback form will be provided that must be completed and submitted in Moodle at the end of each presentation class. Class presentations done over 2 class periods.
