The purpose of this assignment is to consider the destructive use of persuasion.
Watch the video attached in the instructions document (link is provided) as a refresher to the course content being referenced. The video is narrated by our textbook’s author, Robert Cialdini. He identifies six principles but in different order.
Liking: People like those who like them.
Reciprocity: People repay in kind.
Social Proof: People follow the lead of similar others. *Referred to as consensus in the video.*
Consistency: People align with their clear commitments.
Authority: People defer to experts.
Scarcity: People want more of what they can have less of.
Directions:
1. Select any movie, tv show, or series.
2. Identify scenes, in which principles of persuasion are used for manipulation or deception.
3. Write your interpretations in a paper.
4. The paper should be 3-6 pages double-spaced with 1-inch margins and include the following sections:
