Motivational Interviewing (MI) was developed in the mid-1990s by two experts in the addictions field, Drs. Miller and Rollnick. It is a popular helping and counseling technique that is used in many interventions to reduce health disparities around the United States and the world, including those that are related to substance abuse, eating disorders, not taking medications for serious health conditions, among other issues.
