Introduction
research on misidentification Introduction/ Defining the Disease/Disorder
What should be included in this section of your paper: This section should answer the questions: What is your disease/disorder?, What is the epidemiology of the disease/disorder?, and What is the etiology of the disease/disorder?. This should introduce your topic to the reader.
Pathophysiology
What should be included in this section of your paper: This is an explanation of what the disease is and how it affects the body. Discuss what causes the disease, how does a person “get it”. When they do get this disease/disorder, what happens inside their body? What part of the nervous system is affected by this disease and how? Damage to which areas results in this disease/disorder? How does the damage occur? Is the damage due to a genetic issue, an acquired/environmental issue, or a combination of both genetics and environment? Explain and discuss in detail all of the regions of the nervous system that are involved. This should be the longest and most detailed portion of your paper. Make sure to provide support from at least two primary journal articles in this section.
Clinical Manifestations
What should be included in this section of your paper: Describe the patient who has this disease. How do they act? What do they complain of when they have this disease? What changes do they manifest when they are sick with this disease? What are the first signs and symptoms of the disease? What are the diagnostic tests used to diagnose the disease? The reader should be able to visualize the patient and the condition that they have.
Medical Management and Prevention
What should be included in this section of the paper: How to treat and/or prevent the disease. In this section, you should address the different ways medical professionals treat the disease. You might include things like medication, surgeries, exercises or diets. This section also might include information on prevention of the disease. Don’t just list the medications prescribed to a person with this disease. Tell the reader what the medications do, how they work, when they are to be taken and about any side effects.
Current Research
What should be included in this section of your paper: This section should include a review of current research advances that have been made or are currently being pursued about the disease/disorder you selected. You don’t have to provide a survey of ALL of the different types of research being conducted on the disease/disorder, but you should include a review of the findings of at least 3-4 primary research articles that have been published in the past 2-3 years (no earlier than 2021). Pubmed is a great search engine to use for finding articles. You can use it to narrow your results to 2021-2023 only. You must access the entire article. If you find an article behind a paywall, don’t just use the abstract. Instead, you can sign in to the library to gain access to the entire article OR you can request the article be sent to you for free through the library’s interlibrary loan process (you can find this on the library website).
Conclusions
What should be included in this section of your paper: This section should wrap up your paper, summarizing the main points, and making suggestions for future research that could help people with the disease/disorder.
