1. Confirm PubMed, Google Scholar, APA PsycNet, etc are great databases
a. IMPORTANT: Make sure these are empirical articles, not meta-analyses or reviews
2. Complete the literature review
a. Introduction
i. Create a thesis: it should reflect the findings of your 2 articles, make it your own!
1. Example: If I have 2 articles about female puberty, maybe my thesis is “During puberty, females experience heightened social anxiety” – it can and should be very simple!
ii. What were the studies you chose seeking to answer?
iii. Did the authors have a hypothesis?
b. Body
i. Argument for why your thesis is supported by the articles
1. Example: “Research supports a heightened risk for females to experience social stress. A study by Smith, Johnson & Newell (2003) showed females reported higher levels of anxiety.”
ii. Did they find anything unique about the articles?
iii. How does it connect to what we’ve learned in class?
iv. Remember! Your statements should be backed up by these articles.
v. Make sure your in-text citations follow APA format

3. At the end of the paper, write a conclusion about important takeaways
a. Reiterate your “thesis”
b. Briefly summarize the reasons why your thesis is supported (this information will come from the body of your essay)
