In this assignment, you will create a poster using power point – you will submit a digital file, NOT a hard copy of your poster.
A poster is simply a summary of findings related to a topic or research project.
Here are the steps to creating your poster:
Find academic sources related to your topic, then select at least 2 academic articles/sources (outside of the unit materials) to include in your poster (no encyclopedia sources are allowed). References to popular media/articles/stories can be used to add “color” and/or provide applied examples (such references are in ADDITION to your 2 academic sources). Using APA 7 style, you will cite your sources in-text and list them in a references section.
Synthesize the material from your articles into a poster that presents a summary of your selected topic. It is up to you to decide how you want to present your findings and organize the poster; however, I do not want you to simply write a summary paragraph for each article (this is not synthesizing). Each paragraph in your poster should include references to multiple articles. You can learn more about synthesizing information under Poster Resources below.
Create your poster. See below for instructions on creating a poster in power point and poster templates. Make sure your poster is “poster” sized (NOT the size of a typical power point slide).
ADDITIONAL NOTES/REQUIREMENTS:
The poster templates provided in the Poster Resources down below are for research posters, so your headings will vary according to your topic and how you choose to organize your poster.
All information that you present on your poster must be cited using APA 7 style, and references must be placed at the lower right hand corner of your poster.
DO NOT PLAGIARIZE! You must use your own words when you write your information. Also, you are not allowed to use direct quotations on your poster, unless the quotation is especially well-written and colorful. In short, you will write your interpretation of what an author has said, and then you will cite that author using a superscriipt number in-text (for example, Boys and girls learn a lot1). At the bottom of the poster you will then show the reference for Smith (for example, 1. Smith, A. J. (2005). Boys and girls together. Journal of Gender, 6, 119-220.)

This document includes tips on font size (MINIMUM of 24 point font for main text, but I would probably go bigger – section headings should probably be bigger than main body text; minimum of 72 point font for main poster title), design features, etc. 🙂

Rather than creating a poster with article summaries on it, I would like you to create a poster that presents sub-topics within your chosen poster topic. This means, each section of your poster will likely draw from multiple sources of information to create a summary of research/findings/beliefs related to that particular theme/sub-topic. Think of your poster like a very very very very brief research paper 🙂 This document helps to explain the concept of synthesizing information and provides one method you might consider using to organize your research/sources. Although your poster is not as in depth as a full literature review, the general concepts can still be helpful.
APA 7 Citations and References Help:

You are required to cite where your information comes from in the text of your poster and include a list of references on your poster. This document provides guidance in using APA 7 style to cite information and list references.
