I. Problem Statement
• Describe how, with close discussion with your field supervisor, you identified a potential need. What is the need?
• Why is this need important for the organization to address?
• What will happen to the organization if this need is ignored? What evidence do you currently have that this is a critical need?
• How is this need related to the organization’s mission, mandate and services?
• What opposition or challenges do you expect in trying to resolve this issue?
II. Literature Review (Asylum Seekers and their families)
I attached a submitted literature review for your records/reference
• Review some of the literature that has been published about your identified need. Attempt to review critical works that contribute to your understanding of the need.
• Identify a minimum of 5- scholarly works that have attempted to discuss this need in the past. For each:
 What was the specific need/problem that the author discussed?
 What were the major points the author tried to communicate about this need/problem?
 What can you specifically learn from the author that can be used to address your own “organizational need”? What can you adapt? In what ways is this author’s work not helpful?
 Attempt to synthesize the material to demonstrate the continuities, strengths and shortcomings of the existing literature. Position how your own project will contribute to this body of work
 Describe the role of using research to establish the need. You may discuss material from your text.
III. Key Words
• Identify 3-4 key terms or phrases that are relevant to your need which the reader needs to understand
• Put the definition of the term including a citation showing the source for your definition in correct APA style
