Complete Part I and Part II.
Part I: Virtual Art Gallery, Virtual Museum Exhibit, Virtual Theater Performance
Students must visit the Humanities Digital Venue. The link to the Humanities Digital Venue is provided above. Students will choose one piece of artwork or play that resonates with them from the Virtual Art Gallery, Virtual Museum Exhibit or Virtual Theater Performances.
You must discuss in detail your chosen artwork or play, including its historical context. Consider what was happening in the world, the artist or playwright’s life at the time when this work was created. Explain why you were drawn to this particular play or piece of artwork.
Synthesize or analyze the issues, ideas, artifacts, or events relevant to your thesis. This includes identifying specific historical events or cultural developments that are relevant for the discussion of the artwork or play. You should be able to apply your understanding of those events or developments to make specific arguments in the analysis of the artwork.
Please note that some of the exhibits and theater performances will be available all semester, while some are scheduled events. Plan accordingly.
Part II: Virtual Speaker Series
Students must attend one presentation from the Virtual Speaker Series shown in the Humanities Digital Venue. The link to the Humanities Digital Venue is provided above.
Students may attend any presentation that they find particularly interesting. You will write a summary highlighting the main ideas of the talk. This should be your own summation of what you heard from the speakers. The summary should include concepts and ideas that you found particularly poignant.
Please note that all of the speaker presentations are scheduled events through Zoom. Plan accordingly. Make sure that you have the latest Zoom app. Be mindful that the Speaker Series will be live events and will not be recorded.
To reiterate, you are required to attend two virtual cultural events which you will find located in the Humanities Digital Venue. This will include one virtual speaker series event and one other virtual event. Again, here is the link for the Humanities Digital Venue: https://online.valenciacollege.edu/courses/88303
