Format for PPT Presentation:
1. Case Name. Provide the name of the case you are presenting.
2. Facts. Describe the facts of the case. When was the case, who are the parties, what happened (usually chronologically), and what are they fighting about?
3. Issue. What legal issue is involved? State the issue that seems to be the main legal issue that resulted in the holding or the legal issue that the case likely stands for that may relate to the area of higher education. If applicable, what law or source of law is being applied?
4. Analysis. Analyze the Legal Issue. Explain how the court interprets the legal issue and explain how it should be applied both in this case and future cases. Is there a test applied to the analysis? Did the case establish a legal rule related to the legal issue?
5. Conclusion/Holding. What did the court decide or hold? What was the result of the holding for the parties involved.
6. Your Opinion. Do you agree or disagree with the holding, and/or do you find it or its principles useful to know?
7. Guide the Class Discussion. Explore what your classmates think about the case to foster discussion. If applicable to your case, attempt to utilize the “Socratic Method” in a respectful way.
