Each student will prepare a 10–15-minute presentation, summarizing the financial statement analysis of a non-profit organization.
INSTRUCTIONS
Start by preparing a PowerPoint presentation that concisely summarizes the following key areas:
1. Introduction: A general description of the organization, its mission, its operations and its products/services (if any).
2. Revenue: A discussion of the organization’s primary sources of funds and revenues.
3. Restrictions: A discussion of any restrictions on the use of funds. How does the organization keep track of these restrictions on its financial statements?
4. Cash flows: A discussion of cash flow trends for each of the 3 major categories (operating, investing, financing). Explain this in relation to the financial statements’ information presented in the latest available financial reports.
5. Investment: A discussion of how the organization invests the funding they receive and critically analyze their stewardship of these funds.
6. Expenses: A discussion on the organization’s main expenses and how they are used to accomplish its mission and operations. Is there any accountability with respect to how the funds are spent.
7. Strengths/Weaknesses: Summarize the organization’s key financial strengths and weaknesses.
8. Future Prospects: Discuss what conclusions you were able to draw regarding the organization’s future prospects from your financial analysis and research.
9. Biblical Worldview: Evaluate the organization’s mission, financial position and organizational strategy in relation to a Biblical worldview.
