Each of you will keep An Electronic File of NEWS ARTICLES ON ETHNIC MINORITY ISS

Each of you will keep An Electronic File of NEWS ARTICLES ON ETHNIC MINORITY ISSUES AND/OR IMMIGRATION (LEGAL AND ILLEGAL) IN THE UNITED STATES. There is about one article per week so a total of 10 ARTICLES (submitted in One Electronic File). These are articles about News Events, Not Commentaries which are a long explanation with background and future predictions. PUT ALL ARTICLES IN ONE FILE (Do not send each article individually).

Please be advised that EACH ARTICLE COUNTS AS 10 POINTS (10 articles x 10 points = 100 points); Then we apply the Rubric to all of the articles submitted.

CHOOSE NEWS articles from Internet News Sources Please Note that sources like the New York Times and the Washington Post require a subscription (which costs money). Find a News Source/Platform that does not require you to pay for it. Sources could include Reuters or CNN

FOR ALL ARTICLES YOU USE BE SURE TO INDICATE THE COMPLETE CITATION–author, title of the article, publication (which must be underlined or in italics), date, and pages for those that you scan. If you are using an internet source, the information is probably on the page itself.

Type a short SUMMARY of the event represented in each of the ten articles. Then attempt an ANALYSIS This is, why did you select the article, what is its importance, how does what we have studied in class help you to better understand the region or the events portrayed in the article? For example, if your article is about the events around DACA, then you need to explain what you learned in this Course (readings, power points, videos) about DACA that helps you to better understand what is happening in the present news article. This helps you understand the events because you know the facts about DACA, to whom it applies, where these non-citizens are educated, live, and work in the US and how US lawmakers are addressing this part of the immigration “problem” How does the information in the article reflect immigration history. Your analysis should be one paragraph in length.

Below the article write a short summary of it. THEN ATTEMPT AN ANALYSIS. THIS IS, WHY DID YOU SELECT THE ARTICLE, WHAT IS ITS IMPORTANCE, HOW DOES THE INFORMATION IN THE ARTICLE REFLECT THE IMMIGRATION HISTORY AND RACISM THAT WE ARE DISCUSSING. Your analysis should be one paragraph in length.
