Developing activities and assessments that allow students to learn and demonstrate their learning in various ways supports students with different learning styles and needs in the classroom. Knowing the specific needs and interests of your students is important for creating learning experiences that are appropriate for all students.
Complete your unit plan by finalizing the following sections of the unit plan template:
Anticipatory Sets: Explain how you will introduce each lesson and activate prior knowledge for each day of the lesson. At least one anticipatory set must include art as a way to activate prior knowledge.
Multiple Means of Expression: Include formative and summative assessments that are developmentally appropriate to evaluate student outcomes. At least one assessment must integrate art.
Differentiation: Complete the differentiation for all sections of the unit plan based on the learning needs of the students in the class profile from your field experience class.*
*Homework/extension activities will be completed in the next topic. The Extension Activity and/or Homework portion of your unit plan template will remain blank.
Following the unit plan, reflect on the process of creating the unit and write a 250-500 word reflection that includes the following:
1) Explain how you modified teaching practices and adjusted curriculum and instruction in your unit to meet the learning needs and promote positive outcomes for students in the class profile.
2) Explain how the differentiation strategies you created are developmentally, culturally, and linguistically responsive.
3) Discuss the value of integrating multiple content areas to increase student engagement and achievement.
Note: I have attached last weeks unit plan to the assignment because this weeks assignment is a continuation of last week’s. Please make it up. Thank you.
