“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” -Helen Keller
In a well-written narrative, develop your position on the value of adversity in a person’s life. Why do you agree with Helen Keller not? Is adversity necessary for human growth and development? Use appropriate evidence to fully support your stance.
Discuss both the positive and negative effects regardless of the stance you are taking. You are likely to discuss a couple of positives and only a few negatives. In order to retain ethical appeal (ethos), you must discuss the major negatives that will come with your change (ignoring them would diminish your ethical appeal).
Remember to start the writing process by thoroughly researching your topic so you have a solid understanding of the topic and your position. Then, use all steps in the writing process to develop your paper. Expand on each of these areas by providing the who, what, where, when, why, and how (as much as possible) in your discussion of each of these questions.
