You have finally had a weekend off, and when you return to the office, you find several Post-it Notes attached to your computer monitor.
With no date on this note, it says, “I cannot work with this self-absorbed millennial any longer…one more selfie, and he is going to be the patient. Please put me on a different truck, or I will quit,” signed Joe.
Joe is a 60-year-old paramedic who has been with the company for 25 years. Earlier in the year, you moved him to a slower truck at his request.
With no date on this note, it says, “There is a class I want to take on use of the Lucas device. It might be a great addition to the company, but I cannot afford to pay for the class. Can the company pay? Then I could teach everyone at the company how to use it,” signed Martha.
Martha is a 25-year-old with a Psychology Bachelor’s degree who works part-time as an EMT and teaches CPR on the side (but not for the company).
With no date on this note, it says, “Jimmy called in sick for the third time this month. I had to work the shift, so I did not get the inventory done. Geez, can we fire him already?” signed Chris.
Chris is one of the full-time supervisors. He was promoted after 2 years in the field as a paramedic. He is 35 years old, is in school for an Emergency Medical Services Authority Bachelor’s degree, and he thinks he knows it all.
Keeping in mind the many issues of management and motivation, write about how you would handle the authors of these three Post-it Notes.
