OVERVIEW
Unit or Course Learning Objectives are the goals that a student should achieve at the end of the unit or course. In a didactic course, most objectives are cognitive, while in a clinical course, objectives will be cognitive, psychomotor, and affective.
INSTRUCTIONS
Select a content area of your choice in an undergraduate, pre-licensure nursing program.
The narrative portion should include:
A. Describe your selected course (must be a clinical course).
a. Audience (BSN program)
b. Level (sophomore, junior, or senior)
c. Content taught (specialty course, fundamentals, medical-surgical, etc.)
B. Provide Program Learning Outcomes (PLO). Connection of this course to the overall program goals should be clear. The written objective should be clearly aligned with the PLO.
C. Provide overview of each domain (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective) and its purpose in this clinical course.
Complete the Learning Objective Chart Template:
D. Develop one Instructional Objective in each domain (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective). Include:
a. 2–3 learning outcomes for each instructional objective
b. Consider Blooms Taxonomy and appropriate psychomotor domain and use appropriate level verbs
E. Devise learning activities that will provide students with the opportunity to achieve the objective developed in D. Support with literature.
F. Create an assessment plan. How do you plan to assess the successful completion of these outcomes?
The narrative paper should be 2 pages excluding a title page and reference page in current APA format. Abstract is not needed. The paper must include at least 2 scholarly sources in addition to the course textbooks. Use the Learning Objective Chart Template to complete the second portion of this assignment.
