Part 3- Topic and Brainstorm
For this portion of the assignment, I want you to think about a topic that you are passionate about. Then, you are going to create your own TED talk presentation, as per your outline. Please read and follow the steps as below.
In one sentence, describe the topic you are very passionate about and would like to focus on in your TED Talk.
In point form, jot down a list of ideas, concepts, thoughts, and opinions that come to mind when you think about your topic.
Part 4- Outline
Now, before you start creating your TED talk, the ideas must be clear, fluent, passionate, and convincing, so I want you to choose 5-7 strong points that you want to really focus on for your TED presentation. You are more than welcome to discuss more than seven points, just make you don’t go off topic. Write the headings for each of the ideas on the left side of the chart (these will be your slide titles), and then all the points you want to make about that idea in your presentation on the right side (these will be your points on each slide). You should include statistics or other evidence of research where applicable.TED Talks are meant to be persuasive, so you will need to be convincing with the points you make.
Part 5: Your TED Talk Presentation
Now is the time to organize and present your topic. You should use PowerPoint and use the “record slideshow” button to record yourself giving the talk in time with your slides. Remember, your thoughts must be clear, concise, logical, creative, and convincing. Take your time and ensure you proofread your slides before you submit it to me. Your presentation should be 5-10 minutes long.
Part 6: Reflection
Now that you have written your TED talk, I would like you to write a short 5-8 sentence paragraph about your experience. Please feel free to answer the following questions below or write your own reflection about your experience.
Discuss your thoughts about the video. Did you find the information helpful when it came to writing your own TED talk?
Was it easier to organize your ideas through the brainstorming activity outline portion of the assignment?
What did you struggle most with when it came to your TED talk?
What did you learn about yourself as a writer through this assignment?
What would you like your readers to take from your TED presentation?
