Each reflection consists of two parts: text and annotated image.
Text: you should include three points from the readings, three points from the lecture, and three questions to raise in discussion. The text section should be double-spaced 12-point font with 1.25″ side margins. Ideally these will take up two pages, but in no case should exceed three pages.
The points that you raise may examine specific claims or ideas made by an author, discuss the evidence and argument marshaled in a text or lecture, or synthesize multiple sources into a common thread. They need not be comprehensive, just productive of insight; however, synthetic points are always welcome.
Annotated Image: you should include an image that relates to the week’s topic, along with a brief annotation in the form of an explanatory paragraph of 75-100 words. The image can be anything: a map, photograph, painting, drawing, diagram. It can be an image that you created or that someone else created. Your annotation should indicate where the image comes from, what it depicts, its significance, and how it relates to the week’s topic. The annotated image section will typically be one or two additional pages.
The critical reflection should not exceed five pages.
Teacher’s previous comments:
You include very interesting points – but I think you could improve your critical reflections. There is no need to write more than 3 points for the lecture or the readings – the most important thing is the linkage you can do with other materials or observations. Same thing with the image. Let me know if you have any questions.
