Informative Speech Must be 2-4 minutes long and an outline. Please follow these instructions. Outline format attached
The Informative speech is a very simple type of speech. Don’t overthink it! In this speech, all you are required to do is choose a topic that you like, put together the necessary amount of content based on the time limits assigned, and then make the audience a little bit smarter about your topic. You are not telling the audience what to do, believe, or think. If you do, you have entered the realm of persuasion and will end up giving a completely different speech.
The first thing to do is to choose a topic that you like and are knowledgeable about. Then, combine what you already know about the topic (personal experience) with the information learned through research. Organize that information into an outline and start practicing. Does that sound too simple? If so, then you’ve got it! Informative speaking really is that simple. Think of it as a knowledge transfer from speaker to audience.
The most important thing to keep in mind is to remain purely informative. Don’t get persuasive. Don’t tell the audience what to do with the information you have shared. The audience will decide for themselves what to do with it. Your only job is to enlighten them, not to advocate for one position or another.
Your topic can be absolutely anything. You can inform about people, events, ideas, concepts, issues, phenomena, or objects. It’s your choice.
