Your proposal should contain these Elements:
The purpose of a project proposal is to introduce your topic, argument, and resources
Topic can be anything on African American History- up to 1877
Some options include: Ancestral Africa, Africans in the Atlantic World, North American Slavery, 18th-century slave societies, Southern Slavery, the Antebellum period, Abolitionism, the Civil War.
• Identify your research question(s) that you have used to narrow the focus of your topic.
• Identify your working thesis statement—the answer to your research question(s)
• Provide a summary of your argument by highlighting the main key points
o Cite a minimum of 8 resources (books, periodicals, journals) to support your claims/argument
o Include appropriate citation for all sources
o Include footnotes or endnotes as appropriate
• Identify the preliminary list of resources you will use for the final project and explain how each resource helps support your argument
• Bibliography/Works Cited page (as appropriate for your associated discipline formatting)
