This paper is a reflection on the personal qualities that a school counselor should possess to successfully engage students
in the counseling process. Examine the qualities you need to further develop. How do you plan to do this? What
American School Counseling Standards (ASCA) competencies would you focus on for the development of your
comprehensive school counseling program? Interview a counselor or school administrator to add richness to your
reflection. Include two scholarly articles (within the last five years) that speak to the role of a school counselor.
