Part 1) Explore a communicable disease of your choice (from the list provided below):
• Escherichia coli
• SARS-CoV2
• MRSA
Part 2) Review its infection statistics over time and discuss the public health challenges it poses within the Hong Kong healthcare system.
CHOICE OF DISEASE: Please select an infectious disease* from the following list
• Escherichia coli
• SARS-CoV2
• MRSA
Your assignment should be limited to one of the organisms in the list and within the Hong Kong healthcare system. This will allow you to analyse more critically the factors underlying the disease and the prevention measures.
A structured table of headings for the assignment is in the next section and will include information which should focus upon:
Part 1: Disease choice – with relevant epidemiology of the disease (who is at risk, why, where etc.) The disease history with an understanding of biological, social and environmental factors determining the rates of infectious disease An exploration of the prevention and control measures used in Hong Kong and brief review of how these are aligned with the wider international movement.
Part 2: A discussion of disease prevalence e.g. morbidity and mortality rates, using appropriate tables and/or charts A critical evaluation of current legislation concerning this disease. An argument with recommendations for whether you think there should be changes made to prevention and control measures.
