Rationale for the Assignment: “Transition goals measure progress, can be long- or short-term, and should be aligned with state standards (Rae 2020, p. 127). “The transition specialist and the special education team mesh with the student’s goals and ensure that there is a process in place to teach the student how to develop and reach the goals. Parents are included in this process” (p. 138). Creating a narrative in writing, using text-to-speech, or an interpreter is the starting point for the student to self-determine the best fit for future work environments. This process is the foundation for the future, and the educator input should not stymie the information provided by the student….” (p. 143).
