Purpose: Developing PICO questions and search skills are essential that future nurses find evidence that help develop EBP solutions to patient care problems in a healthcare organization.
Description: Using the PICO question and search strategies you completed for your Part 2 assignment, one question you choose will guide your focus of this activity. You will execute a search strategy and choose pertinent results to help answer your clinical question. See the grading rubric embedded in BS.
Instructions:
1. Using the PICO questions and search strategy you created for your EBP Project, Part 2 assignment, execute your search in the OPU databases for ONE of your questions. Note that you may search for one question but decide to switch to a different question you created if your search does not yield results. You may need to change the “I” (intervention) to a new intervention altogether, depending on your search results.
2. Update your PICO question if needed and include it on page 2 of this document. Be sure that your final PICO question is about a specific nursing intervention!
3. Keep a running list of the search terms you try during this assignment. Enter the search terms tried/used on page 2 of this document.
4. Select 4 articles published no earlier than 2016 that help answer your final PICO question. On page 2 of this document, provide a rationale for choosing each article to answer your PICO question. (Three to five sentences per article is sufficient. The rationale should state why you feel the article answers the research question.)
5. In addition, search for a clinical practice guideline about your clinical question on any of the websites noted on Slide #10 of the Week 2 presentation. This should be tried, but there may not be a guideline for your topic. Reflect on your effort (or success) of finding a CPG.
6. Upload this document, pdfs of all 4 articles you chose, and a CPG (if found) .
