In this module, we move to the period between the Revolution and the end of World War I. We will continue to discuss the Revolution a bit more in Lesson 1 before shifting to the period between the Revolution and WWI. I’d like you to address the following questions:
In recent years, scholars of Mexican American history have begun to focus on the role of state-sponsored violence in the history of the US Southwest. Thinking about Lesson 1 and what you’ve read in The Injustice Never Leaves You, how would you describe the impact of violence on Mexican-descent communities during the first decades of the twentieth century?
Why do you think it has taken so long for historians to recover or recognize this history?
