In this assignment, you will use the New York Times database to find one newspaper article that reports on a lynching that took place between 1880 and 1925.
In this three-paragraph assignment, you must clearly communicate the following:*
1. A basic understanding of the historical practice and uses of lynching as discussed in “Part 2: Jim Crow.” This is your opportunity to show what you’ve learned about (Paragraph #1)
2. A summary of the New York Times article you located. Be sure to explain how the individual died, what the article says caused the lynching, and if/how local authorities responded (Paragraph #2)
3. A discussion of what stood out to you, surprised you, or simply resonated with you (Paragraph #3)
