Create a Project Risk Register and Identify Quality Standards
Outcomes addressed in this activity:
Unit Outcomes:
Create a project risk register.
Define project value and quality.
Course Outcome:
IT301-4: Create project artifacts that support the project planning performance domain.
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to focus on risk identification for your chosen project. You will leverage the work started in the Discussion Board of this unit and identify additional risks. In addition to risk identification, it is important to define quality for the project team by outlining expectations.
Assignment Instructions
There will be two parts to this assignment.
Part 1:
Identify ten risks for your project and ensure there are at least two risks in the categories of scope, time, cost, and quality. For each risk, rate probability and impact to produce a score for each using the risk register template. Using the scale of 1–10 for impact and a probability in the range of 1%–99%, multiply both of these components to establish a risk score. Complete the risk register template located here by identifying risk owners, triggers, and a detailed risk response using mitigate, accept, transfer, or avoid response strategies.
Identifies a minimum of ten risk events with cost, time, scope, quality, and an additional risk event of choice.
Applies a scale of 1–10 to measure impact to each risk.
Applies a probability of 1%–99% to each risk.
Identifies each risk event’s score from the P-I matrix.
Prioritizes risk events from the greatest threat to least threat and suggests means of mitigation or remediation for each.
Identify owners and triggers for each event.
Part 2:
Establish a quality assurance checklist for three deliverables (tangible outcomes). You will take three of the project deliverables and build a quality assurance checklist to assure each activity in this task is addressed and that it is addressed to the quality standards to meet the project requirements (describe a measure or condition that should be present that demonstrates the quality expectations). Describe two conditions for each deliverable. Each checklist can be a list of bullet points. You may develop this quality checklist in Excel or MS Word. If you are unsure what a quality checklist should look like, research quality checklists and compare them to the rubric. Use the one you feel most meets the rubric criteria as your reference guide.
Assignment Requirements
Create the risk register using the provided MS Excel template and the quality assurance checklist using MS Excel or Word. Hand in both documents via the assignment dropbox.
