• Surgical procedures – antibiotic administration has been proven to mitigate the incidences of surgical infection when administered before incision (Alsaeed et al., 2022).
• Disease prevention by triggering immune response within the body (World Health Organization, 2020).
Relevance of Antibiotics and Vaccines to Chemistry
• Chemical synthesis helps produce more potent antibiotics that are effective against drug-resistant infections (Trafton, 2018).
• Antigen production helps destroy pathogens and stop disease (World Health Organization, 2020).
